OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
Self-medication to induce a medical abortion is very risky, especially without any preliminary assessment. She needs a clinical confirmation, a trans-vaginal sonogram to locate the gestation sac and rule out an ectopic pregnancy, to know the age of gestation, urinalysis and blood counts. The medication should be prescribed according to the age of the pregnancy until 9th week only; beyond this period, surgical abortion is the only way. Follow up should be done after two weeks and this includes a repeat sonogram to confirm completion of the process. Please see a specialist for further help. Take care.
