Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband was on Cartia XT 120 mg daily. His doctor increased that to 2 per day then gave him a new Rx for Cartia XT 240 mg....one pill daily. My husband was confused and took 2 per day...total dose of 480 mg. He has done this for 2 weeks! How concerned should he be?
The only down side is a lower bp. If someone does not feel faint, the actual blood pressure reading is NOT a good indicator of the pressure being too low. Frankly, there is also a possibility that this (quite safe) BP medicine might not be good enough to lower the medicine regardless of the dose. So, it should be non-urgently checked (like at a grocery or pharmacy) but for whether the bp is too high. The effect of the double dose peaks about 1-2 hrs after taking it and does NOT require missing the next dose.
