hi doctor, im a male and im 26 yrs old. i already consult my doctor and i have a low sperm count. he asked mo to take clomid for 3months. i take clomid for 3months and the result was very good my sperm count now is normal. so me and my partner try to make love she got pregnant but its ectopic pregnancy. :( is it ok if i continue taking clomid? to avoid dropping my sperm count?. thank you for your response doctor. godbless!
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Clomid is composed of clomiphene, which is a non-steroidal fertility medication used in both men and women. It works essentially the same way in both women and men. In men, it increases FSH, which leads to an increase in sperm production, and increase in LH leads to an increase in testosterone production. There is a possibility to over-respond to low dose clomiphene by making too much testosterone and this can decrease the sperm count. Hence, it is very important to re-check the testosterone hormone levels a few weeks after taking clomiphene.
