Suggest Dosage For Primolut N To Treat Menstrual Abnormality
My doctor gave me primolut n because my periods, though very light are lasting along time. She suggested that if I take it on the first day of my period it will stop the bleeding. My question is will the bleeding start again when I stop taking it? Also what I ve read indicates I need to take it for 10 days where as she suggested 3days. What will happen if I take primolut n on the first day of my period and how long should I take it for?
Hello, Thanks for letting us know your health concern. Primolut N contains norethisterone, a progestogen. The dosage is dependent on the purpose of use. To induce a period, a course of three days is sufficient. To manage prolonged bleeding, the course varies from 10-20 days. Moreover, due to the incidence of unwanted side effects with prolonged use, medroxyprogesterone is preferred. Please discuss with your health care provider for further information and plan further management accordingly. Hope this helps.
