Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I NORMALLY TAKE THYRONORM 75. HAVING COME TO EUROPE (FROM iNDIA) AFTER NEW TESTS, THE DOCTOR TOLD ME THE DOSAGE WAS NOW INSUFFICIENT. iN FRANCE THEY PRESCRIBE LEVOTHYROXINE BUT I HAVE A SIX-MONTH SUPPLY OF THYRONORM 75 AND AM LOATH TO WASTE IT. THE DOCTOR HERE THEN SUGGESTED THAT I SHOULD INCREASE THE DOSAGE WITH ABOUT 1/3RD.
Thyronorm and levothyroxine drugs are essentially the same prescription. You could increase the dosage of Thyronorm and take it till you run out of that.
You could take 100 mcg instead. Taking half tablet once in the morning and once at night instead, that works out to about 150 mcg, which may end up being too much.
You can alternatively take 1 tablet of 75 mcg and 1 of 25 mcg tablet instead. Take all of this, with your doctor in the loop.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan
