Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I gave my 8 month old (16.7lbs) 100mg dose of Tylenol Infant (160mg/5mLs) liquid... I noticed the dosing chart said 12-17lbs 80mgs. Is this based on weight or will he get sick from the 20extra mgs?? I didn t realize that one dose for such a wide weight range was the same!
Hi, thanks for your question. I have read your query and understand your concern.
Short answer: 100 mg of Tylenol to a 16.17 lbs baby is safe and within acceptable normal range. So, please do not be stressed as it wont cause any harm. Infants can get Tylenol up to a maximum of 15 mg per kg of their body weight but that should be administered by a doctor.
It is always advisable to carefully read and follow the instructions on the label before giving medication to a baby.
Hope this helps, and please do not hesitate to contact me for any further clarification.
