Due to family history of ovarian cancer and I recently had breast cancer, I have decided to have my ovaries and uterus removed to be preventative since there is no accurate test to determine early uterine or ovarian cancer. My question is --what are the advantages/disadvantages of having the cervix removed and how will that affect incontinence and intercourse.Thank you

Hello,
From your query, it seems to be you are a patient of hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome involving either BRCA1 OR BRCA 2. As a part of management prophylactic, oophorectomy (ovaries) will be done. You want to remove them, go ahead no problem. In the query, you didn't mention your age. If you have completed your family, then go ahead with prophylactic oophorectomy.
Uterus removal is of no use. Hereditary cancers are related to ovary and breast. So removal of the uterus is not needed. Even if the uterus removed (with is without cervix removal). The vagina will be there, so there won't be any problem for intercourse. You can enjoy sex with your partner even after uterus and cervix removal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Siddartha
