Suggest Fluid Supplements During Diarrhea In Children
Hi Doctor,my daughter is 1year 3months old is suffering from diarrhoea and dehydration.diarhoea started 3days back which has been started with vomiting.what kind of food can be given to replace fluild?she refuses to take electral.she was weighing 9.2kgs 3days back now she is only 8.7kgs.
First thing is to know the dehydration if this is the dehydration then level of dehydration matters the great severe dehydration need medical attention and it can not be managed at home, even moderate dehydration also needs medical attention only mild dehydration can be treated with Oral rehydration therapy, making solution of salt and sugar, in one-month-old child it is not advisable to manage the dehydration at home and better to rush to ER, till you rich the ER Oral re-hydration solution is the only option can be tried, the prime motive is to correct the dehydration then comes the question of diet, if it is not the dehydration and patient given oral re-hydration therapy then chances of overhydration is there so one must be very much conscious in this age group of one month, passing of stool three to four time is normally one with little amount of water.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
