1. children at this age mostly get
loose motion due to viral infection, and if he is passing watery loose motion, then the severity does not depend on the frequency but on the amount of fluid loss /day.
2. If baby passes urine less than 5 times a day, is drowsy & refuses feed, along with dry tongue and
high fever, consult your Doctor or
Pediatrician immediately.
3. In the mean time, prior to doctor appointment:
. maintain good hydration: ORS [oral re hydration salt] is more important part of treatment, more important than drugs. Feed continuously, as much as the baby takes except when abdomen is distended or if
vomiting, if it is not available the at home: take 200ml boiled & cooled water and add 1 tsp of sugar and a pinch of salt.
. avoid fruit juice and wheat products

liquid diet or plenty of fluids are essential: electrolyte solution, coconut water, daal water.
. Instruct the mother to clean the nipples before breast feeding.
. after every motion clean and dry the buttocks, and apply talcum powder
