Suggest Ill Effects Of Smoking During Pregnancy

I am a 23yr old female, 3 weeks pregnant and a pack a day smoker. I have decided to quit smoking cigarettes today and wanted to know if my smoking has already effected my 3 week old fetus and will those effects be lifelong, or have I already ruined his/ her health?

Thanks for asking in healthcaremagic forum
I understand your concern but you must have thought this earlier also as the most sensitive period of foetus is before 12 wks of gestation called first trimester.
Anyways smoking can cause
a. Low birth weight
b. Intra uterine growth retardation
c. Placental insufficiency etc
So, please stop smoking now itself and undergo examination and investigations to know whether it has affected your baby till now.
All the best.
