My face and butt cheeks tends to develop tiny dry patches which gets itchy sometimes. I also have dry patches near my scalp hairlines. This situation comes and go. I apply an anti-inflammatory cream (Uniflex) to ease the itch. I was told that Uniflex contains steroid. I usually apply this for around four days and the dry patches will settle down. It flares up occassionally. Question is, can i continue to depend on the steroid cream? Also, what else can I do?
The possible diagnosis of the condition based on the description of the lesions is tinea facei which is a fungal infection. You must avoid heat and humidity. Topical antifungal creams like clotrimazole can be used along with oral antifungals like fluconazole after consulting your dermatologist. Avoid use of steroids especially over the face as long tirm appliction can cause side effects like atrophy, striae and acne form eruptions.Consult your dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis of the condition.
