Suggest Management And Treatment For BSD

Hello Doctor, My three year old daughter has a BSD, has distonia leg muscle issues on both legs, and just recently I ve noted age spots-- a lot of them across the trunk of her body, and her very blonde hair seems to be turning grey. I have an appointment in a couple of weeks with a genetics specialist, but I ve very worried, and would like to know anything you can help them figure out what s wrong with my daughter. Please give me any info you can on what tests I can ask for etc. --Very worried Mom.

Hello,

Sorry, but I do not know what BSD refers to. Do you mean VSD, ventricular septal defect? Dystonia is not associated with either hair changing colour or age spots.

Early hair greying can be associated with:

-the family history of early greying
-much scalp dandruff
-vitamin B12 deficiency
-vegetarian/vegan diet
-history of gastrointestinal surgery
-thyroid disease
-anemia-vitiligo(skin and hair depigmentation).

Causes of age spots in children:

-the family history of age spots (I wish I were able to request that send a picture of these spots by email)
-children with fair skin

Has she had a flu shot for this season? Has your daughter been evaluated by a pediatric neurologist?
