Hello,
Unprotected intercourse during the fertile period can cause conception; while the same during the safe or non-ovulatory period does not cause conception. Since she has taken the emergency pill within the stipulated time interval, she is amply protected, but, please remember, one single dose cannot protect from several acts of intercourse performed on several days. The medication gives a one-time protection. The pain can be due to the pill-effect. Please see a specialist for further help if she does not see her next normal period even after ten days after she is due. Hope this helps.
