Suggest Medication For Acute Pain In Head Due To A Head Injury
My son bumped his head to a brick wall a few days back. He was complaining of mild head ache last week and he does that on and off even before hitting the wall. Yesterday he complained of acute pain while dancing and could not bear loud sound. The pain subsides with pain medicine but he still says he has it and gets some sharp stings once in a while. Can it be internal injury? Thank you in advance
Hello dear, I understand your concern about your son.Your son apparently had a mild head injury from the clinical point of view, as it was not associated with loss of consciousness. He had acute episode of severe pain, which increased on exposure to loud sound, and subsided with medicines. It is very typical of migraine however some other symptoms are also associated with migraine like-nausea,increase in pain on exposure to bright light, visual aura like seeing flashing zig-zag lights, headache is usually hemicranial(on one side of the head) and pulse like or throbbing. With a clinically mild head injury,a brain imaging like Computerised tomographic scan(CT scan) of head is not indicated, however please give detailed history to your physician and let him examine your son so that,he may decide whether a brain imaging is needed or not to rule out any internal brain injury.I hope it helps.
