Hi, I am a 20 year old girl with a huge problem..... I went through my puberty process at the age of 13- the right time according to the text books- and at first my period came regular each month for a year or two ..... And then I started to skip months , then two months and three and so on ..... As I seem to age it seems to get worst, right now I haven t seen my period in over six months. I don t know if this is a medical problem or if its normal and the it happens sometime. Is it a serious?
Your problem needs evaluation. Some period are irregular after menarche like 2-4 yrs. but in your case it is now 7 yrs. and your period are still irregular.
You should consult a gynaecologist and get your examination and investigation done to rule out the cause. This problem can be due to hormonal imbalance ( oestrogen and progesterone imbalance ). Your cycles are usually anovulatory. Most common cause at your age is PCOS( polycystic ovarian syndrome).
Hope I have answered your query if you have further questions I will be happy to help you. Good luck. Regards Dr.Richa
