Suggest Medication For Diarrhea Causing Severe Cramps And Blood Discharge

For the last 2 weeks I have had terrible diarea with even worse cramps. I've tried imodium but it only stops it for about six hours and then it comes back. Even on imodium the cramps and terrible bloating feeling stays constant like I constantly need to be on the toilet. The first day the stool was very dry, flaky and flesh colors but then I began drinking more water and tried the brat diet so for the next few days I was pooping brown water(no blood then) Tonight it was still watery but eventually as the cramps continued and nothing would come out very thin blood began to drip out. I'm worried could this be serious?

Hello,

Severe cramps in the abdomen, diarrhea indicate that you have an intestinal infection hence Imodium alone will not help at all. I would like to advise you the following in such a situation:
-Get the stool and blood tested.
-If an infection is present a course of an antibiotic active against intestinal infection, metronidazole and probiotics should help you.
-Also, take an antispasmodic for relief.
-Electrolyte solution and plenty of fluids help to control dehydration and electrolyte imbalance.
-Consult your doctor proper clinical evaluation, correlation with reports and give you prescription based medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
