The exact duration of therapy depends on the local or geographic data about the malarial parasite endemicity. Probably life long therapy is proved effective. Relapses are quite frequent with discontinuation of therapy. Drugs like chloroquine and proguanil are very useful in controlling the symptomatic splenomegaly.
