Suggest Medication For Huge Lump In Shin After An Injury
I was hit in the shin with a softball and there was a huge lump. After icing it 20 mins on 20 mins off for a while the swelling went down considerably. Now I have bruising on the instep of my heel. Any thoughts? No pain when I walk but the original injury is tender to the touch.
Hi! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Possibly you had a hematoma (collection of blood) over your shin which has subsided with icing. The tenderness and pain would be there for some time. If I were your doctor, after ruling out any fracture clinically, I would advise you for an anti inflammatory drug along with a proton pump inhibitor drug, and a pressure bandage over the hematoma site. Also you should give proper rest to the part, and try to keep it elevated on bed over a pillow whenever you are lying down.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
