Suggest Medication For Itchy Oozing From Areola Of Breast
Hello. My daughter has been suffering with severe burning and itching on her breast. It started oozing from the areola area....we consulted our family doctor. She gave her perscription for a cream. Several days later her other breast became red and swollen with oozing. Doctor did a culture this time and came back positive for MARSA. She then placed her on an oral antibiotic...bactrium. She just finished today and yesterday they started oozing again....it was clear now it is brown. What do we need to do now??
Having a mrsa positive culture means that she has an infection caused by staphylococcus that is resistant to certain antibiotics such as methucillin, oxacillin, penicillin and amoxicillin.
She should take a treatment that comes as a result of antibiogram. Bactrim is first line treatment. If it doesn't work vancomycine is a choice.
She should take it for two weeks as prescribed by her doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
