Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
7 month old baby boy drinks very little. It s a struggle to get formula into him, he averages about 10ozs per day, that s including formula I ve mixed with cereal etc. He loves solids, eats everything and is beginning to take water from a cup. I have tried formula in a cup but he s not interested. He s waking at night now but doesn t want bottle. Help!
If he is taking solids adequately, we need not worry about the amount of formula. Total calories from solids and formula combined is all that matter. As the amount of solid items increases, amount of formula will automatically come down. If he is active, playful and gaining weight as expected, nothing to worry. Restricting amount of plain water given can improve this to some extent, by maintaining his thirst.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
