Suggest Medication For Loose Motion During Pregnancy

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... Dear Dr., My wife is 22 weeks pregnant. Today she is suffering from loose motion (2 times soft watery stool with mucus) though she has not taken any out side food. Please suggest what she should do.

Hello,

Since your wife is pregnant for 22 weeks, we have to be very careful before giving any medication unless most needed.

Hence, I would advise you to consult your gynecologist for clinical evaluation, examination and send the sample for tests of blood, stool and urine.

If there is any intestinal infection, she will be given pregnancy-safe medications as per the cause and symptoms.

Till then, give her plenty of oral fluids, boiled and cooled water to maintain hydration. Do not give her any medications at home.
