Suggest Medication For Loose Stool While Having A Ruptured Ovarian Cyst

My daughter is 31, has been having diarrhea, loose stools, and the urge to run to the bathroom no matter what she eats for over 2 weeks now. She has lost 10 lbs,has been seen by her primary care, and ED,and also a GI doctor. Nobody thinks she should have a scope or more tests. They did do a CT of her and which showed fluid in her pelvic area consistent with a ruptured ovarian cyst. She is very discouraged. What should she do next?

Hi,

I understand your concern.

Your daughter has been diagnosed with ruptured ovarian cyst. The doctor has prescribed medications for that. Among them, she might have been prescribed antibiotics.

The use of antibiotics is associated with alteration in intestinal flora. This explains why she is having loose stools.

Give plenty of fluids to stay well hydrated. Take oral rehydration salt to replace the lost electrolytes. Take probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora.

If no improvement, get back to her doctor and run a few lab tests (fecal analysis and/or culture) to determine if there is anything else.

Wish fast recovery.

Hello
Thank you for trusting HCM

Dear which drugs your using now??How many times per day your daughter passing stools.

Ruptured ovarian cyst rarely cause diarrhoea, please send stool for microscopy, cysts and culture. There is a possibility of irritable bowel syndrome. Avoid spicy and oily food.

If symptoms not improved consult your doctor.
