Suggest Medication For Migraine

hi, I have had dizziness, naseau, headaches which seemed to start about 7 months ago. Have been to an ENT and Neurologist. The neurologist says it is likely migraine related ( vestibular migraine ). My hearing was tested and that was ok, I had a balance test and that was ok. So my neurologist has put me on Amitryptiline to help prevent the migraine, and also am taking Meloxicam to help with inflammation (I have had neck problems in the past). Everyday I continue to get a headache. It starts way deep in the center/back of my head then seems to be more pronounced on the right side in back of my head. Now, within the past 4 weeks, I am getting on and off numbness in the outside lobe of my right ear. Certainly my dizziness and nausea have improved, but I still have moments of floating, or bouncing feeling (like I am walking on a trampoline). I just seem to always have this dull ache in the back of my head, and I notice when I move my head (especially like nodding up and down) the pain increases almost like a knife pain or splitting type of pain. I don t know what to do next. My neurologist says the types of migraines can go on a long time. But it has been 7 months since I have felt like myself. Thanks JS

Hi, thanks for the question, since you have mentioned that migraine has already been diagnosed by neurologist and other causes of headache are ruled out by ent doctor, you are taking right medicine, amytryptaline and and an analgesic. But I need to know the dosage and frequency of taking amytriptaline, as some patients would respond only to higher dosages. I suggest you to visit your neurologist again and get evaluated and ask if there is a need for increase in dosage. Meanwhile I suggest you to abstain from excessive consumption of coffee, spicy food, cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption. And practice yoga in the morning and also try vipasana medidation. Hope my advice helped you .
