I was diagnosed with a non-specific scalp fungal infection yesterday and began a course of treatment of 250md x2 daily of Griseofluvin for 6-12 weeks. My healthcare provider's through the Navy Hospital in Pensacola, FL. I feel dreadful today. Is there an adjustment period in which my body will "accept" the medication or will this continue throughout th4 course of treatment. Cheers-Gaby Wilson
Hi, Welcome to HCM. Normally Griseofluvin doesn't cause serious side effects (except for mild gastritis, which should be tolerable), and there should be no need for adjustment period. Another option for treating scalpfungal infection can be local application of ketoconazole shampoo. You can discuss the option with your doctor if suitable to you. Wish you good health.
