Suggest Medications For TB Infection With Acute Cough

My wife was suffering from acute cough last winter .On examining her chest X Ray the Pulmanologist was doubtful about the occurrence of TB.He conducted the skin test ,Sputum examination and finally did a Broncos-copy an collected specimen to do sputum culture .All were negative and mean while she was cured the cough without any medicine .while back in home town due to curiosity we approched our family physician and told the story .he advised to go for Gold test to confirm the infection.Unfortunately we got a positive test result. He advised to take AKT-4 for six months and told nothing to worry this will not spread. we are really worried i have a small child of 10 years with us are we safe ?.And is this the best treatment .Please advise

Thanks for your question on HCM. Since your bronchoscopy was negative for TB infection, and your cough already cured, in my opinion there was no need for TB gold. And also no need for AKT. But no harm in completing the treatment now. So complete your six month course. And you can take cough supressant for acute cough. And no need to worry about your child. Please get done repeat chest x ray after completion if treatment.
