Suggest Medicine For Bowel Incontinence With Abdominal Pain
Hi, my father who is 92 years old had undergone surgery for removal of external hemerroids last month. the wound has healed nicely. but he is continuously passing stools and constantly complains of pain in the lower abdomen and anus area. very very foul smell of wind and stools. i was advised to give him povidac. is this the right medicine for these symptoms
Hi, Povidac is povidone iodine and is used to treat infections in superficial location. It is an iodine based antiseptic. If the hemorrhoids have not healed, and were to be infected, this treatment would be ideal. Foul smelling stools could be due to malabsorption commonly. In the elderly due to atrophic mucosa, he might be having some amount of malabsorption. Pain in the anus area, and still feels like passing stools could be due pain of external hemorrhoids. Meet you surgeon and discuss. If you have any further queries, happy to help again.
