Suggest Medicine For High Cholesterol?

I have been on pravastin for high cholestral for 4 months now. In that time period, I have been very tired. Is this common? If so, what other medication would be available to me for the high cholesteral that would not make me feel fatigued? I also take metroprol and lisinoprol for high blood pressure. thanks!

Good morning,
Fatigue could be related to other factors. First, are you on a single dose and taking that dose in the evening? I believe it is taken in the evening for this very reason. Also take care that you do not consume grapefruit or citrus with this medication. Now you have only been on it for four months, so I doubt that is long enough to induce low coenzyme Q10, but it is possible you may need to supplement this nutrient to rid yourself of the fatigue after trying the first two suggestions.

Lastly, yes, there are other statin medications your doctor can try you on if you continue to have ill experiences with Pravastatin. There are actually several different statins out and other options if these are exhausted.

The pills are designed to be followed with a Heart Healthy Diet designed to lose weight if overweight or maintain weight and fitness if those goals have already been met. The Mediterranean Diet is frequently recommended and sodium intake should be limited with high blood pressure per your doctor to between a low sodium(1500 mg) and the public health recommendation of 2300 mg/day.

In summary, your current medication may be contributing to your fatigue either because of the time of day/night you take it, drug/nutrient interactions, nutrient depletion or reaction to that particular statin.
