my mom is 78yrs and takes medication for Cholestrol, high BP, and Diabetes (which she got in the last 5 yrs or so, and which we think is a side effect from her heart meds!.) These are the meds she takes: Aztor 10mg -1/night Tazloc40- 1/day Concor 5mg- 1/day Glycomet 1mg- 1/day However, her Blood sugar is high per her doc visit today. She has strict diet, and eats a vegetarian diet. Could this be a side effect of her present medications?
Dear Sir/Madam, Please do not worry about the tablets she is taking. Your Mom's Sugars are not high because of side effects of tablets. Mostly she is undergoing a normal progression of diabetes. Diabetes also progresses slowly. Although diet and exercise are an integral part of sugar control , medicines need to be fine tuned as per her sugar levels. So please check her fasting and post prandial and fine tune medicines with consult from a Diabetologist. For any further queries Iam always here! Dr.Riyaz Sheriff

Suggest Methods To Control High Blood Sugar
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic There are some medications that can cause increase in the blood sugar but none of the medication listed have that effect. The increase in her reading is not due to any of these medications. Unusual changes in blood sugar are usually related to a food or drink consumed or a sharp decline in activity level. In the long term, diabetes is a progressive illness and more and more medications are often required for control as time passes. I hope this helps
