Suggest Methods To Handle Mood Swings In Elderly With Steroid Intake
My mother has brain cancer and has to take a steroid to help with swelling. She also takes anti-depressants. She also drinks wine and her mood changes horribly. Is this due to the mixture of the three? I don t know how to handle her severe moodiness and ups and downs.
I am sorry to hear about your mother. She sounds like she is having a difficult time as well as you in connection with her mood swings. Your question is whether her medication and her alcohol could influence her mood. The short answer is yes each one of her medications and alcohol will cause these changes. She is in a very difficult situation and if I were he doctor I would recommend reducing her alcohol. This is something you may have more control over. Her medications should be adjusted by her doctors.
The best thing you can do for her now is be supportive and help communicate your concerns to her doctors.
Hope this answers your question. If you have any further questions please contact us again
