Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, i think i may be bipolar, i researched some of the common signs and they are very familiar to the way ive been feeling/behaving, but im not sure how to approach my doctor, i feel like i may be exaggerating even though nothing seems to be getting better, is there any way to deal with this without medical 'help'?
The longer you avoid 'medical' help, the greater is your chance of suffering further. Bipolar mood disorder is a medical condition that has psychological symptoms. If treated properly, one can lead a productive, harmonious and peaceful life. There is some evidence to suggest that the longer a mood disorder remains untreated, the more difficult it is to treat it in future. In my opinion, you should see a psychiatrist who is in the best position to evaluate you and decide whether you really have a bipolar disorder or not. If yes, he or she will not only give you medicines but will also counsel you about lifestyle changes. Hope this answer is helpful.
