Hello,
You didn't write if You had an unprotected/ protected sex.
It can take up to 6 months after exposure for some people to develop detectable HIV
antibodies - it is called a
seroconversion and takes frome 2 weeks to 6 months. So to be sure if You are HIV positive/negative You should have an
HIV test within 3 months of Your possible exposure to HIV and next You should be retested 3 months after that first test. If both are negative You are not HIV infected.
You have asked also about HIV tests. The most common HIV test is Antibody Test like Enzyme
immunoassay (EIA). Next one is Antigen Tests and it is used to diagnose HIV infection earlier - from 1-3 weeks after HIV infection. PCR Test to diagnose HIV infection from 2-3 weeks after exposure.
Within 2-4 weeks after HIV infection You may experience flu-like symptoms (
Fever - the most common symptom,
sore throat,
rash, headache) but each of these symptoms can be caused by other illnesses.
In my opinion (to be sure) You should be retested after 6 month of Your possible exposure to HIV.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
