Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi,I had an important question about apple cider vinegar. ACV does a great job of removing all acid for hours without antacids. If ACV helps to alkaline or neutralize the acid in our stomach doesn t that have a major impact on the necessary nutrients getting into our system because the food is not being broken down adequately; and therefore you might lose significant weight over time? I ve been using Bragg s for several days now for GERD and I am concerned about still getting the essential nourishment. Right now I take 1 teaspoon in cup of water several times per day: before breakfast, mid-morning, after lunch, mid-afternoon; and in the evening; and when ever I can taste the acid in my mouth or throat. Do you think this is too much. thanks Tony
HI Well come to HCM I really appreciate your concern, alkali neutralized acid this is very well known chemical phenomenon, but in case of GERD the formation of more acid in gastric region is matter of concern that should not be happened, there are several reasons behind this right from the changing life style includes eating habit and stress, if no hyperacidity is there then no need to take any thing to neutralize the acid, underlying cause of acidity matters the great and not the treatment hope this information helps.
