Suggest Questions To Be Asked Before A Chemotherapy
Father in-law is starting chemo for non small cell lung cancer. He has COPD, asthma and a fungal lung infection. Its been suggested that he be given iron and B12 beforehand since earlier chemo attempts have hospitalized him. Its also suggested he have a blood transfusion before and after. What questions would you recommend he ask his doctors?
Good question. Hi, Let him first enquire what are the side effects both short term and long term. . What fall in the hb should warrant immediate consultation How frequently to monitor cell counts, kidney and liver function tests. Is there any better chemo regimen and the reason why they have chosen the present regime. Is there any scope for immunotherapy (only some doctors offer it and suits only some cancers) Hope I am clear.
