Suggest Remedial Measures For Severe Dry Cough That Is Recurrent After Recovering From Angioplasty Procedure
Hello Doctor, My mother aged 63 years has undergone an angioplasty operation in June 2018. Procedure was successful and she is taking medicines continually after it. Initially it was alright but since from say about one month she is having severe dry cough which arises randomly at any time day/night time. Please advice the reasons of this dry cough and remedial measures of the cure. Regards, Ravi Chaudhary
Severe cough could be related to aspirin allergic reaction or pulmonary edema. ACEI (Lisinopril, Berlipril, Ramipril, etc.), can also lead to cough as a possible adverse effect. What is her current medication?
I recommend consulting with her cardiologist for physical exam and a cardiac ultrasound first.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
