Pediatrician 's  Response
This is a very unusual condition, but fits into the general diagnosis of "pica". This condition is often associated with mineral deficiencies including especially iron deficiency. Having your iron levels monitored by your doctor along with any needed supplementation may be helpful. Eating a diet very rich in micronutrients and minerals (lots of fresh vegetables, nuts, seeds - if not allergic), may also help nourish the body and decrease the cravings.
