Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a full cast on from my knee down to my and covering my foot, my toes are the only part showing, i have been getting really bad cramp all day and even when i try to move it like i have been told by the doctor this just is not helping, is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?
As you are in full cast down the knee then for cramp I will advise you to manage your sodium intake. Also I will advice you to do some simple exercises for the core.
As while in cast the resting phase will be long in the bed and weakness of the spinal muscles leading to nerve entrapment and cramps kind feeling.
Using hot water fermentation for the back will be good to reduce muscle spasm.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
