Dear, you just had major surgery and perhaps blood loss. As a strict vegetarian I would immediately be concerned regarding your B12 and iron levels - deficiencies of which can cause
fatigue. At a minimum you need around 1500 to maintain your perfect weight (BMI is 21 - goal less than 23 and no lower than that, so suggest you strive to maintain your weight).
B12 is found primarily in animal foods so if you need repletion you may need a supplement, please
ask doctor to check
folic acid and B12 and iron. If deficient in B12, probably deficient in folic acid and with both a B deficiency and an
iron deficiency may cause you basic lab work to look like a normal
anemia from blood loss. If labwork cannot be done, and you were my patient I would suggest a hypoallergenic vegetarian
multivitamin in am, a B-complex with food in mid-day. The doctor should test your ferritin and iron levels and order supplementation as necessary.
The thinning hair indicates a protein deficiency. You need more protein to heal, also. So a maintenance level of protein for you would be 44g, but to heal and rebuild yourself taking in a little more protein such as 66 gm. protein-legumes, curd, soy milk, oats, nuts, 2 Tb. nut butter/d (more is high in calories), tofu. . .
Sample high protein, high iron vegetarian meal:
3 oz. baked tofu
1 cup baby spinach
½ cup shredded carrots
½ cup sprouts
1-2 tbsp. Thai peanut sauce , ~50 cal. portion size
1 high-fiber wrap
Directions: add all ingredients to high fiber wrap, roll up & enjoy!
