I AM A DEBETIC 2 I TAKE METFORMINE 500 2X A DAY AN D MY LEFT PINKIE AND RING FINGER IS NUM BLOOD LEVEL I THINK IS 90 SHOUD I BE TAKING THIS MEDICATION MY SURGAR LEVEL IS AT 6 POINT SOMETHING MY DR. SAID THAT WHEN IT GETS 5 I DONT HAVE TO TAKE METFORMINE NO MORE I TAKE 5OO 2 X A DAY WHAT SHOULD I DO

Metformin is one of the most widely used diabetic medications because it is does not cause weight gain (in some persons can help with weight loss) and it does not cause low blood sugars.

It would not cause your blood sugars to drop below normal, this is not a side effect of this medication. It is used in some persons who are not overt diabetics to help prevent them from becoming full blown diabetics.
You can safely use it to help control your diabetes.
