Suggest Remedies For Pain And Pressure In Chest Of A Child
My friend thinks she wants me to drive her 14 year old daughter to the emergency room because she has been crying and holding her chest for over an hour, complaining that it hurts like someone is sitting on her. She gave her daughter 2 Tums about 20 minutes ago, and they aren't helping. She called the ER but they say they're not allowed to give advice over the phone. I think my friend is concerned about the cost of a visit to the ER
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. Your friend's daughter is having chest heaviness, crying, holding her chest etc. All these symptoms need cardiac cause to be ruled out first. Teenagers do present with heart diseases like valvular heart disease similarly. So better to take her to emergency room and get done ecg and 2d echo. If both these are normal then no need to worry for heart diseases. Sometimes, uncontrolled stress and anxiety can also cause similar symptoms. So consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. Try to identify stressor in her life and start working on it's solution. She may need anxiolytic drugs too. Don't worry, she will be alright but first rule out heart diseases. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing her good health. Thanks.
