Suggest Remedies For Swelling And Bruising In Leg After A Snap

Hi, my daughter is in Ibiza and she thinks she may have fractured her ankle as she heard a snap when she went over on her ankle this has happened before about 18 mths ago, she is due to fly home tomorrow but wont go the the hospital incase she is advised that she cannot fly home and she will have to stay on her in over there, she is 23 and I am worried that she may develop complications on the flight as her foot is very swollen and bruised and she can only just aboput walk, she is taking ibrufen and packing with ice, please advise if there is anything else I should know or do?

Hello,

The main concern in such cases is immobilization and right treatment by an orthopedist, in order to help reduce the inflammation and the bleeding. There is no other risk in case of short journeys. If the journey lasts more than 5-6 hours, there is some increased risk for deep vein thrombosis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
