Suggest Remedies For Swimmers Itch Beyond Prednisone And Steroid Injections
Hi, I have rash that has been diagnosed as swimmers itch. I got back from Mexico in the 19th of August where I was in the pool for a week straight. I noticed a rash under my arms when I got home. And then a few days later it erupted all over my body. I was given a steroid injection and put on prednisone but the itching is still very bad. What can I use for it to go away? It was localized under my arms and then three days later spread all over my arms my trunk my legs and feet.
Take care of your hygiene. Get all your clothes and bedding washed in hot water and dries in sunlight. Apply ointment hydrocortisone on areas affected to help reduce itching. You can take antihistamine at bedtime for 7-10 days to help reduce the symptoms of allergy.
Wear soft cotton clothes and avoid taking any food or drink that triggers your symptoms. Your symptoms should reduce, and you should get comfortable. If not, you are advised to get clinically examined by an allergist or dermatologist. You may need to be treated with steroid shot or put again under a course of prednisone.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
