Suggest Remedies For Weakness And Dizzy Spells During Pregnancy

Hi I am 25 weeks pregnant (24 years old) and since yesterday have not felt quite myself, I keep getting slight spells of feeling weak and not quite 'with it' even if I am already sitting down. I am already on iron supplements for being borderline and do suffer from a low blood pressure but at no point during my weak spells at the moment have I lost my radial pulse (is common normally for my systolic to suddenly drop below 90). Baby still moving fine. Trying to eat lots and regularly (have healthy diet) but only put on about 3kg since becoming pregnant. Thanks

Your low blood pressure, minimal weight gain, and anemia can all contribute to your feeling weak, but it is most likely your low pressure that is causing these symptoms at rest. Drinking lots of water can help boost your blood pressure. If you were weak enough to not have a radial pulse, you would be unconscious... so your pulse is not a good way to assess your blood pressure, but a systolic below 90 certainly can make you feel like you will pass out. Try to get up slowly and be careful with activities. Low blood sugar can also make you feel weak. The best way to raise your blood sugar and more weight is to increase your calorie intake. I know you want to eat healthy, but you are one of the few people that can afford to have some treats! Small frequent meals that do not let you have an empty stomach for long periods can help. In the meantime, stay well hydrated, take your iron supplements and your pressure will start to get higher as you get further along in the third trimester. I hope this was helpful and good luck.
