Hi. This question is about my daughter, who is now 2. When she was 4 months old and 7 months old respectively, we took her in to her doc with fevers and she had a urinary tract infection both times. First question: could it have been a kidney infection? 2nd: If so, what is the likelihood she has kidney scarring from it? She was tested for reflux and does not have that. Thank you!! Ashley S.
Hi At this moment of time it is not possible to be sure that your child has had a kidney infection at age 4 months and 7 months. It could have been a cystitis(bladder infection) rather than pyelonephritis(kidney infection). If that was in fact kidney infection proven by scan of the kidneys then there is a possibility of scarring in kidney - read this article -http://www.jwatch.org/na35442/2014/09/08/which-children-develop-renal-scarring-after-one-uti
