Suggest Remedy For A Little Flap Of Gum Appearing On The Wisdom Tooth
hi my wisdom teeth recently just screw in and in there is a little flap of gum on top of it is but its starting to bother me and I'm just wondering what it is it there is no problem or whatever because I brush my teeth regularly and I just want to know if there's a problem
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. The pain, swollen gums could be because of the pericoronal flap around a partially erupted tooth. This can get traumatised on biting from the opposing tooth and can result in gum infection over the wisdom tooth (pericoronal infection leading to abscess formation). Consult a oral physician and get a radiograph done to rule the amount of space present for the tooth to erupt if space is there for the tooth to erupt then the gum covering over the wisdom tooth can be removed. If the space is not available then you have to get the wisdom tooth removed. you can take a course of antibiotics like amoxicillin 500mg and metronidazole 400mg tid for 5 days (if you are not allergic). Do saline gargling. i hope my answer will help you, take care.
dear sir, thanx for the query. i went through your problem and came to the conclusion that your wisdom tooth is partially erupted.plz don't get worried as it happens when wisdom tooth erupts .your problem will get solved as it gets erupt. i normally give advice to my patients to do mouth wash twice daily. if prob persists you can consult your dentist for the minor surgical procedure operculectomy. keep smiling..
Hello The flap is nothing but operculum.as the Tooth come out it will go away but sometimes due to partial eruption it stays over the tooth and causes pericoronitis. In that case you need to get it excised. I would advice you to just wait for some time for the complete eruption of the wisdom tooth. Hope this answer helps.
