Suggest Remedy For Acne Problem
My daughter has moderate acne and has been on Retin A 0.1% and topical Clindamycin for 8 months. There was a marked improvement after 6 months, but acne has come back again. She is now on Minocycline 100mgs. twice a day for four weeks. Will this improve her acne again or will it come right back after stopping the oral antibiotic.

Your daughter is having acne vulgaris as you gave history. She was treated with retinoic acid gel and minocycline and got good result. But, now it has relapsed. You may be knowing acne is a relapsing condition. I would like to give few suggestions for control of acne in your daughter...
- there may be excerbating factors like stress,anxiety,sleeplessness,oily food,dandruff, hormonal imbalance,drugs like pills,steroid...etc. All such factors should be removed
-minocycline may be given in low dose of 50 mg in morning
-isotretinoin low dose 5 mg at night may be added
-clindamycine gel on lesions in morning and adapalene gel at night on active lesions of acne may be recommended
- cleansing the face with antiseptic facewash is advised
- have patience for the good result
- tell her to avoid anxiety related to acne
