I have a bladder diverticulum which is keeping me from emptying my bladder and at times I am unable to urinate at all and when that happens, I need to self cath. I am self cathing anyway from time to time to keep my bladder neck from scarring down to the point I cannot urinate all due to a Greenlight laser procedure I had a couple of years ago. Should I pursue a bladder diverticulectomy in view of the fact I have a bladder contracture that I am dealing with?
Hi My general view is that your main problem seem to be bladder neck contracture preventing complete emptying of bladder rather than diverticulum. Diverticulum only very rarely causes complete blockage of urine. This is a complex question to answer without going through your full history and records and knowing size of diverticulum, uroflowmetry reports, tightness of contracture etc. You will need a detailed discussion with your urologist.
