I am a 36 year old woman that has a build up of blood vessels in my upper lip, as well as a strawberry birthmark above my lip. The strawberry mark has been prominent since birth, but the build up of blood vessels has grown increasingly as I ve matured and is now a deep purplish color. I do what I can with make up to cover up my flaws, but I still feel deformed and want to know what options I may have?
I can understand your concern. It seems that you have developed Telangiectasia over the upper lip. Telangiectasia is dilation of capillaries which are red or purple in color and give spider web like appearance. They do not cause any harm unless it is in the esthetic region.
You have developed these capillaries in the aesthetic region thus you do need to go for some treatment for improvement of your cosmetics. I would recommend you to consult a plastic surgeon, dermatologist or oral surgeon and go for laser treatment that will remove the discoloration from your face.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
