Suggest Remedy For Brown Discoloration On Right Upper Arm

I have a large area of brown discoloration on my right upper arm. I have had it for approximately 20 years now and neither my GP or a skin specialist I visited could diagnose it. The nearest I have been able to find on the internet is tinea versicolor. I have tried everything and am currently drenching the area in apple cider vinegar several times a day and sleeping with antifungal shampoo spread directly on my arm and showering off in the morning. It's an absolute nightmare as now and again a red spot erupts on the discoloration and when it dries up and flakes off it leaves a dark brown spot which never goes away. Consequently my arm is starting to look like a leopards. I'm a 56 year old caucasian woman.

Hello,

I can understand your concern for brown discoloration on right upper arm.

I can get form your history that you have this discoloration since last 20 years which is quite long period of time to get this kind of brown discoloration on right upper arm.

Tinea versicolor is a fungal infection and never remains longer than few months. So this possibility is out of context. In my opinion it appears to be related to two conditions:

-Becker’s nevus- it is a nevus which gives brown discoloration on right upper arm and gets darkened by the progress of time.

-Melanocytic Nevus-It is also a nevus which gives brown discoloration on right upper arm.

I suggest you to for biopsy of the area which will give you the exact diagnosis and then treatment of the area.

All the best.
