Suggest Remedy For Bruise In Upper Arm

Female, 50 years old, 5 1 , 125lbs. Acquired a serious bruise on her upper arm during a camping trip, healed at what seemed to be a normal rate, approx 10 days. About a month and a week later the bruise returned as a dark splotch in the shape of the original bruise. Google has done us no good, adding fear to simple confusion. What could be the possible cause of a returned bruise where no additional significant damage has been done?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Her symptoms could be suggestive of a new trauma. Another possible cause to consider would be a coagulation disorder. Anyway, I would recommend consulting with her attending physician for a physical exam and performing a Doppler ultrasound of the arm vessels coupled with coagulation tests, including complete blood count and liver function tests.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
