Suggest Remedy For Bruises In Lower Back

My grandson will be 3 on October 28. My daughter just sent me a picture of him with bruising on his lower back and buttocks, asking me if I knew what it was. We re all freaking out because it looks like he has been abused. He is in daycare 3 days a week at a very reputable place. She first noticed the marks on Friday evening, but she says they ve gotten much worse. She is going to call her pediatrician in the morning, but in the meantime, can you tell me if there is something other than abuse that could cause this?

Hello,

Bruises may be related to different possible causes:
- A trauma
- A coagulation disorder (like hemophilia)
- Herpes Zoster infection (Shingles)
Does he have fever? I would recommend consulting with his pediatrician for a physical exam and some blood lab tests.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
